black bizzies

Years ago, in response to Blackout Tuesday, several lists and posts referred people to Black-owned businesses and encouraged supporting them moving forward. I began compiling a list for myself and then made a similar post, this time asking my Facebook friends for their personal recommendations, particularly those of them with their own businesses.

Though I have made an effort to support more Black-owned, woman-owned, and especially Black woman-owned businesses, I know that I can do more. Even if I can’t always make a purchase or come to an event, what I can do is share information.

And that’s how Black Bizzies was born.

My goal with this blog is to highlight these businesses, whether they are local to me or not. Each feature will include not only information about the business, but my personal experience (where applicable) as well. While this blog began as something just for me, I hope that through it, you, too, will be led to support these businesses, however you can.
